1. Hindu College, New Delhi, tops the NIRF Rankings 2024 for colleges.
2. Miranda House drops to second place after last year’s top position.
3. St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, ranks third in the latest college rankings.


New Delhi, Aug 12: Hindu College, New Delhi, has secured the top spot in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2024 for colleges, released on Monday.

Miranda House, which was ranked first last year, has moved to the second position this year. St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, holds the third spot in the college rankings.

In the previous year’s rankings, Miranda House, Delhi, led as the top college in India, followed by Hindu College, Delhi, and Presidency College, Chennai. This year, however, Hindu College has taken the lead.

The NIRF Rankings 2024 were released by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the presence of key dignitaries, including Professor Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairperson of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.

This year’s rankings expanded to 16 categories, adding state, skill, and open universities to the existing list. Other categories ranked include overall, colleges, research institutions, engineering, management, pharmacy, medical, dental, law, architecture and planning, agriculture and allied sectors, and innovation.

IIT Madras retained its top position in the overall category for the sixth consecutive year, while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, was named the best university.

Additionally, IIT Madras continued its reign as the best engineering college for the ninth year in a row. In the management category, IIM-Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta were ranked among the top five.

The NIRF ranking framework assesses institutions based on five key parameters: teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. This marks the ninth edition of the NIRF Rankings.
