Northeast thunderstorms

Weather Update, March 22: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds may lash Northeast India on March 22, while isolated rains may impact East India during the next five days. Heavy rainfall is possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on March 22.

As for the mercury levels, a gradual 2-3°C rise in maximum temperatures is expected over Central India during the next two days, while East India may witness a 2-4 C⁰ daytime mercury increase levels during the next 4-5 days. Minimum temperatures are expected to be near or above average over India during this projection period.

Wednesday (March 22)

  • Heavy rains may occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.
  • Widespread rainfall with thunderstorms may pelt Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
  • Fairly widespread rainfall, along with thunderstorms, may lash Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
  • Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
  • Isolated rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms may occur over Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir, and Ladakh.
  • Isolated rains and thunderstorms are expected over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe.

Thursday (March 23)

  • Fairly widespread rains with thunderstorms are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
  • Scattered showers, snow, and thunderstorms may impact Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
  • Scattered showers and thunderstorms may pelt Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
  • Isolated rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms may occur over Uttarakhand.
  • Isolated rains and thunderstorms may lash Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe.
