Itanagar, April 17: Ahead of the assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, concerns are mounting over the increasing influence of the NSCN-KYA militant group.

Reports indicate that the group has been distributing leaflets in villages under the Longding Pumao Assembly Constituency, threatening severe consequences for those who do not support the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate, Thangwang Wangham.

Residents in villages such as Niuasa, Longkhaw, Mintong, and Longphong have reported instances of armed militants from NSCN-KYA intimidating locals at gunpoint, coercing them to vote for Wangham.
