Imphal, Feb 26: Fuel outlets in the valley districts of Manipur have decided to close down for three days starting Friday, citing financial difficulties and excessive donation demands from various organizations.

The decision came after an emergency meeting attended by 138 members physically and several others via phone, where it was unanimously agreed upon to shut down operations from February 16th to 18th.

Representatives conveyed their concerns to Chief Minister N Biren Singh earlier, warning of potential closures if donation demands exceeded their capacity.

They highlighted challenges such as declining sales, plummeting profit margins, and increasing pressure for donations.

The letter to the CM outlined the financial strain faced by fuel retailers, including threats to employees and demands for closures if demands weren’t met.

They also emphasized the difficulty in managing expenses like salaries, fees, insurance, and taxes with reduced income.

Seeking assistance from the Chief Minister to overcome the crisis, the representatives hope for a resolution to alleviate the financial burden on fuel retailers.
