Kolkata, March 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had a conversation with Rekha Patra, a notable figure from Sandeshkhali in West Bengal who is now contesting as the BJP’s candidate for the Basirhat Lok Sabha seat.
Rekha Patra gained prominence for leading women’s protests in the region against Sheikh Shahjahan, a suspended leader of the Trinamool Congress.
Shahjahan and his associates faced allegations of illegal land acquisition and sexual assault, which sparked outrage among the locals.
During their conversation, PM Modi praised Rekha Patra, referring to her as “Shakti Swaroopa” (goddess-like), and discussed her campaign preparations for the upcoming elections.
In an audio clip of the conversation, PM Modi inquired about her feelings regarding the significant responsibility she undertakes.

Patra expressed her gratitude, stating that she feels blessed with PM Modi’s support, likening it to receiving blessings from Lord Ram.

PM Modi assured Patra of the Election Commission of India’s cooperation and promised proper security arrangements to ensure that the women of Sandeshkhali and Basirhat can exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.
