Modi Congress

Bhopal, Dec 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a swipe at the Congress party on Tuesday, following the Income Tax department’s seizure of a staggering Rs 350 crore in black money and approximately 3 kg of gold ornaments from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu.

Modi, drawing a parallel with the popular ‘Money Heist’ drama, quipped that the Congress has been engaging in heists on the country for the past 70 years.

“In India, who needs ‘Money Heist’ fiction when you have the Congress Party, whose heists are legendary for 70 years and counting!” the Prime Minister remarked in a post on social media. Accompanying his statement was a video shared by the BJP with the caption, “Congress presents the ‘Money Heist!’”

The Income Tax department’s raids targeted properties linked to Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu in multiple locations in Odisha and Jharkhand, resulting in a record Rs 353 crore cash seizure. Officials described it as the “highest-ever” cash haul in a single action by any probe agency in the country.

The aftermath of the significant cash discovery led to a blame game and heated exchanges between political parties in Odisha. The opposition BJP accused the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government of allowing the Sahu brothers a free hand in the country liquor business in Odisha over the past two decades.

In response, the BJD criticized the BJP, stating that while the national leadership questioned the Congress, the BJP leaders in the state were targeting the state government. A BJD spokesperson remarked that the Odisha BJP leaders seemed determined to somehow protect the Congress on this issue.

Amidst the political crossfire, the Congress asserted that it was unfairly dragged into the controversy by both the BJD and BJP, labeling them as two sides of the same coin. The unfolding events underscore the intense political dynamics surrounding the massive cash seizure and its repercussions on the political landscape in Odisha.
