New Delhi, Feb 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his ’24 mein 400 paar’ call during a jan jatiya mahasabha in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing the BJP’s ambitious electoral target.

Contrary to speculations, PM Modi clarified that his visit to Madhya Pradesh was not election-oriented but rather a service to the people.

He expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, citing the party’s performance in previous assembly elections as a testament to public sentiment.

During his address, PM Modi recounted opposition leaders’ remarks about crossing 400 seats in the upcoming elections.

He countered this by asserting that not only would the NDA exceed 400 seats, but the BJP alone would secure more than 370 seats.

PM Modi outlined a strategy for achieving this goal, urging party workers to identify polling booths where the BJP received the highest votes in the past three years and aim to secure an additional 370 votes in each booth.

He also emphasized the importance of grassroots campaigning, encouraging workers to engage with households and promote the achievements of the Modi government.

PM Modi’s mention of ‘370’ as a target for the BJP is not new. During the recent Budget session of Parliament, he linked the figure to the government’s decision to revoke Article 370, sparking a political debate over the specificity of the target.

The term ‘400 paar’ was coined ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, with PM Modi acknowledging Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s sarcastic reference to the BJP’s election slogan ‘abki baar 400 paar’.

PM Modi embraced the phrase and set 370 as the BJP’s solo target, expressing gratitude for Kharge’s remark.
