New Delhi, April 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of stable relations between India and China, highlighting their importance for the broader region and the world.

In an interview with Newsweek, PM Modi stressed the urgent need to address the ongoing border tensions between the two countries.

“India’s relationship with China is crucial and holds significance,” PM Modi stated. He expressed his belief in the necessity of promptly resolving the prolonged border situation to normalize bilateral interactions.

The border dispute between India and China has persisted for nearly four years, particularly in eastern Ladakh, following clashes in the Galwan Valley in June 2020.

Despite multiple rounds of diplomatic and high-level military talks, a significant breakthrough in resolving the standoff has yet to be achieved. Both nations have committed to maintaining “peace and tranquility” along the border.

PM Modi reiterated the importance of stable and peaceful relations between India and China, emphasizing their broader implications for regional and global stability.

He expressed hope that positive and constructive engagement at diplomatic and military levels would facilitate the restoration and sustenance of peace along the borders.

“I hope and believe that through positive and constructive bilateral engagement at the diplomatic and military levels, we will be able to restore and sustain peace and tranquillity on our borders,” PM Modi concluded.
