Kolkata, March 01: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the alleged sexual assault against women in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, invoking the legacy of social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy during a rally in the Arambagh area of Hooghly district.

Modi expressed outrage over the incident, stating that the entire nation is appalled by the TMC’s actions in Sandeshkhali.

He lamented that Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s spirit would mourn such atrocities and condemned a TMC leader for his alleged involvement in the incident.

The Prime Minister highlighted the BJP’s efforts to uphold the dignity of women and emphasized the arrest of the accused TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan, attributing it to BJP’s pressure.

Moreover, Modi criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her purported silence on the Sandeshkhali issue, questioning her leadership in addressing such matters effectively.

The arrest and suspension of Sheikh Shahjahan from the Trinamool Congress were cited as significant outcomes of BJP’s intervention in the case.

In addition, Modi slammed the opposition INDI alliance for its silence on the Sandeshkhali incident, likening their response to Mahatma Gandhi’s three monkeys who hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil.

The Prime Minister’s rally also marked the inauguration of development projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in the Arambagh area, spanning various sectors including railways, ports, oil pipelines, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment.
