Imphal, June 29: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has embarked on a two-day visit to the violence-stricken state of Manipur, landing in Imphal on June 29. His primary objective is to travel to Churachandpur and meet with representatives of civil society organizations and victims of the recent outbreak of violence, according to sources.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur carries significant importance, as the Congress party has been critical of the government’s inability to take concrete actions in maintaining law and order in the state. With this visit, Gandhi aims to assess the ground situation and extend his support to those affected by the violence.

According to sources, Gandhi is scheduled to visit relief camps in Churachandpur and Bishnupur, where he will interact with the victims of the violence. Additionally, on June 30, the Congress leader will meet with representatives of civil society organizations from the Imphal Valley.

Coinciding with Rahul’s visit, reports emerged of fresh incidents of firing in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur. Armed miscreants, carrying sophisticated weapons, attacked the villages of Tangnaum and L Munlai on Thursday morning. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties at the time of filing this report.
