Wayanad, March 09: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been nominated to contest from the Wayanad constituency in Kerala once again for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The party unveiled its inaugural list of 39 candidates for the elections, marking the beginning of its electoral campaign.

The announcement was made by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal following a meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC).

The list, however, did not include candidates from Uttar Pradesh, and there’s speculation whether Rahul Gandhi will also contest from Amethi, his former stronghold. Rahul Gandhi had represented Amethi since 2004 until the 2019 elections when he was defeated by BJP’s Smriti Irani.

Nonetheless, he secured a victory from Wayanad, ensuring his presence in the Lok Sabha.

Among the notable names in the Congress’s first list are Bhupesh Baghel, K Muraleedharan, KC Venugopal, and Shashi Tharoor.

Bhupesh Baghel, the former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, has been nominated to contest from Rajnandgaon.

Other candidates from Chhattisgarh include Tamradhwaj Sahu, who will contest from Mahasamund, Jyotsna Mahant from Korba, and Shivkumar Dehariya from the Janjgir-Champa constituency.
