New Delhi, Jan 14: Rahul Gandhi’s flight to Imphal to launch the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was delayed due to foggy weather conditions.

Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress party is set to embark on the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ covering a monumental journey across 15 states and 100 Lok Sabha seats. The foot march, commencing in Manipur’s Thoubal, is poised to cover an extensive 6,700 kilometers over 67 days.

In contrast to being merely an electoral move, the Congress emphasizes the ideological essence of the yatra, positioning it as a robust response to what the party terms the “anyay kaal” (era of injustice) during the 10-year tenure of the Narendra Modi government.

The march seeks to resonate with the public on key issues and shape the narrative in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi’s ambitious journey spans diverse geographical regions, cutting through 110 districts across 15 states. Starting from Manipur, it traverses the north, central, and concludes in Maharashtra on March 20.

The yatra unfolds over a meticulously planned route, spending significant durations in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh becomes a focal point for the Congress, with the yatra strategically passing through crucial areas such as Amethi, Rae Bareli, and Varanasi.

Covering 1,074 km across 20 districts in 11 days, this leg of the journey holds substantial political significance for the party, aiming to make inroads in a state where it secured only one Lok Sabha seat in the previous elections.

The yatra faced challenges right from the start in Manipur, where the government imposed restrictions on the venue and the number of participants.

The decision to shift the flag-off location from Imphal to Thoubal showcases the resilience of the Congress in overcoming obstacles.

The northeastern leg also encounters the aftermath of ethnic violence in Manipur, adding a layer of complexity to the journey.

Before commencing the yatra, Rahul Gandhi pays homage to the martyrs at the Khongjom War Memorial in Thoubal.

This memorial stands as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the last Anglo-Manipur War in 1891. The act of remembrance sets a solemn tone for the yatra’s beginning.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is not merely a physical journey but a concerted effort to bridge geographical and societal gaps.

Covering about 100 Lok Sabha seats and 337 assembly segments, the Congress aims to connect with communities on the ground and address their concerns.

In a virtual meeting of the Indian National Inclusive Developmental Alliance (INDIA), Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge invites leaders of the Opposition’s bloc to join the yatra at any point along its route.

This gesture underscores the collaborative and inclusive spirit behind the initiative.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra marks a significant chapter in the Congress party’s strategy to engage with the public, shape public opinion, and pave the way for the upcoming electoral battle.

As Rahul Gandhi embarks on this extensive journey, the political landscape is poised for shifts and narratives that may influence the trajectory of Indian politics in the coming months.
