Dimapur, May 05: Bimal Chandra Das, Assistant Security Commissioner of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Dimapur Post, reiterated the organization’s commitment to enhancing safety measures for commuters, recognizing the significant role railways play in the lives of many Indians.

Addressing the media at the RPF office in Dimapur, Das discussed the challenges posed by illicit activities within railway premises. He emphasized the strict enforcement of laws, particularly the Railway Act, against individuals engaged in activities such as gambling and substance abuse.

Das highlighted the RPF’s proactive approach, citing successful operations like “Nanhe Fariste,” which led to the rescue of 20 minors handed over to Childline Dimapur. Operations such as NARCOS, Yatri Suraksha, AMANAT, and Mission Uplabdh have also been instrumental in maintaining security.

Furthermore, through the “Sewa” initiative, the RPF assisted two women in need, offering medical aid and support. Efforts under “Smuggled Goods of Foreign Origin” resulted in the recovery of suspected foreign items and the arrest of two individuals.

In a comprehensive review, Das disclosed that the RPF handled 176 cases under the Railway Act, leading to the apprehension of 182 individuals involved in various offenses.

Encouraging public participation, Das urged interested candidates to apply for the ongoing RPF recruitment drive, offering 4460 vacancies, including 4208 constable positions and 452 sub-inspector roles.

The application process is entirely online, with a deadline set for May 14.
