Itanagar, April 09: The political landscape in Arunachal Pradesh is set to intensify as Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gears up to launch the BJP’s campaign in Namsai district today, heralding a flurry of political activity ahead of the impending polls on April 19.

With the BJP already securing 10 seats unopposed in the 60-member assembly, the party is doubling down on its efforts to maintain its stronghold in the state. Rajnath Singh’s slated address at an election rally in Namsai underscores the party’s determination to consolidate its position.

Following suit, BJP President JP Nadda is scheduled to unveil the party’s manifesto for the forthcoming polls upon his arrival in the state capital on April 10th.

Nadda’s subsequent rally in Doimukh aims to galvanize support for BJP candidates, further amplifying the party’s electoral momentum.

In a bid to secure a majority of seats, the BJP has fielded 50 candidates for the remaining assembly seats, while opposition parties such as the Congress, National People’s Party, Nationalist Congress Party, People’s Party of Arunachal, Arunachal Democratic Party, and Lok Jana Shakti Party have also announced their nominees.

Key contenders include Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju, vying for the Arunachal West parliamentary constituency, and incumbent MP Tapir Gao from the eastern parliamentary seat.

The Congress, on the other hand, is pinning its hopes on PCC President Nabam Tuki and State Unit Vice President Bosiram Siram for the west and east Lok Sabha seats respectively.

As the electoral showdown looms, Arunachal Pradesh braces itself for a heated contest, with the vote count scheduled for June 2nd for the assembly elections and June 4th for the parliamentary polls.

The political fervor is palpable as parties gear up to vie for the electorate’s mandate in this crucial electoral battleground.
