Ayodhya, Jan 21: Scheduled for January 22, the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is set to be a momentous occasion, symbolizing the consecration of the deity within the revered temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to preside over this sacred ceremony, led by a team of priests under the guidance of Lakshmikant Dixit.

Recognizing the cultural and symbolic significance of this event, several states have declared a public holiday or a half-working day on Monday, allowing people to participate in the celebrations.

  1. Expansive Area: The Ram Temple in Ayodhya covers an extensive 2.7 acres, with a built-up area of 57,400 square feet, showcasing the grandeur of its architectural design.
  2. Impressive Dimensions: The temple’s physical dimensions include a length of 360 feet, a width of 235 feet, and a height of 161 feet, making it a substantial structure spread over three floors, each with a height of 20 feet.
  3. Sturdy Foundation: Supported by numerous columns, the ground floor features 160 columns, the first floor has 132, and the second floor is upheld by 74 columns, ensuring stability and adding aesthetic value to the temple.
  4. Thoughtful Design: With three floors, each having a height of 20 feet, the temple is designed to accommodate various functional and ceremonial areas, reflecting versatility and purpose.
  5. Cultural Hub: Beyond its religious significance, the Ram Temple incorporates educational spaces and meditation areas, embracing a holistic role in fostering spiritual, cultural, and educational pursuits.
  6. Traditional Construction: The temple construction uniquely avoids the use of steel or iron, opting for traditional materials, aligning with age-old building practices and emphasizing sustainability.
  7. Premium Materials: The main temple structure features Bansi Paharpur Pink Sandstone from Rajasthan and granite stones in the plinths, ensuring durability and contributing to the overall longevity of the temple.
  8. Symbolic Bricks: Special bricks known as “Ram Shilas” with the inscription “Shri Ram” draw a symbolic parallel with stones believed to have been used in the construction of Ram Setu, connecting modern craftsmanship with ancient symbolism.
  9. Inclusion of Shaligram Rock: Sacred Shaligram rock, found in the Gandaki River of Nepal and revered in Hinduism as a symbol of Lord Vishnu, is included in the construction, adding a spiritual dimension to the temple.
  10. Estimated Expenditure: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra estimates an expenditure of ₹1,800 crore for the temple’s construction, showcasing the financial commitment to bringing this architectural marvel to fruition. Between February 5, 2020, and March 31, 2023, ₹900 crore has already been reported in expenses for the construction.
