NorthEast India, Jan 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to the people of Manipur on their 52nd Statehood Day, commending the northeastern state for its robust contribution to the progress of India.

In a tweet, PM Modi expressed his admiration for Manipur’s rich culture and traditions, emphasizing the pride India takes in the state’s heritage.

“On Manipur’s Statehood Day, my best wishes to the people of the state. Manipur has made a strong contribution to India’s progress. We take pride in the culture and traditions of the state. I pray for the continued development of Manipur,” tweeted Prime Minister Modi.

The Statehood Day celebration holds significance as it marks the formation of Manipur as a full-fledged state within the Indian Union. Manipur attained statehood on January 21, 1972, following the enactment of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.

PM Modi’s warm wishes underscore the recognition of Manipur’s role in the overall development and prosperity of the nation. The northeastern states, including Manipur, have played a vital part in contributing to India’s diverse cultural fabric and economic growth.

In addition to Manipur, Prime Minister Modi also extended his greetings to Meghalaya and Tripura on their respective Statehood Days. Both states have made substantial strides in various fields since attaining statehood.

Addressing Meghalaya on its Statehood Day, PM Modi tweeted, “Best wishes to the people of Meghalaya on their Statehood Day. The state is known for its remarkable kindness and spirit of brotherhood. Praying for Meghalaya’s continuous progress.”

Furthermore, he sent his regards to Tripura, saying, “Greetings to the people of Tripura on their Statehood Day. The culture and warm-hearted nature of the people of Tripura is endearing. May the state continue to touch new heights of development.”

The Statehood Days of Meghalaya and Tripura are celebrated on January 21, marking the establishment of these states within the Indian Union.

Meghalaya was formed on this day in 1972, while Tripura attained statehood in 1972 as well.
