Imphal, Nov 30: Actors Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram have exchanged vows in a traditional Meitei wedding ceremony in Imphal. Randeep, dressed in white, embraced the role of a Manipuri groom, surrounded by family.

Lin, adorned in a Potloi, a cylindrical skirt embellished with satin, velvet, gems, and glitter, personified the traditional Manipuri bride. The ceremony took place at the Chumthang Shannapung resort in Imphal, with the couple also visiting the Relief Camp at Moirang Lamkhai and Sendra Tourist Resort.

Randeep expressed excitement about experiencing Manipuri traditions, highlighting the cultural exchange between East and West. The couple’s journey from friendship to marriage was celebrated, emphasizing the beauty of their evolving relationship.

The Meitei wedding marked a significant cultural exchange, symbolizing the couple’s commitment to embracing each other’s traditions. Randeep, while acknowledging the unique aspects of Meitei love marriages, expressed his eagerness to participate in the ceremony and understand his life partner’s culture.

Lin shared their initial connection, revealing they met at Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre group called Motley, progressing from friendship to a beautiful journey as a family.

The couple had earlier announced their marriage on November 29, taking inspiration from the Mahabharata’s Arjuna and Manipuri Warrior Princess Chitrangada. The ceremony was held in Imphal, followed by a reception in Mumbai. Despite maintaining privacy about their relationship, Randeep and Lin frequently shared pictures on social media. Lin’s birthday wish for Randeep and their Diwali celebrations hinted at their relationship, with Randeep making it Instagram official in October 2022.

The wedding photos showcased the couple’s joy and cultural fusion, encapsulating the essence of their union. Randeep, known for his roles in films like “Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai” and “Sarbjit,” is set to play Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the upcoming film “Swatantra Veer Savarkar.” The biopic, directed by Randeep Hooda, features Ankita Lokhande opposite him. Savarkar, a freedom fighter, politician, and writer, is recognized for coining the term ‘Hindutva.’
