Itanagar, Sept 16: Doctors at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh successfully conducted a rare surgery to close a congenital heart defect in a 30-year-old female patient.

This remarkable procedure, performed percutaneously (through the skin) under local anaesthesia, marks a significant milestone in the field of medical science in the state.

The surgical team, led by Dr. Rinchin Dorjee Megeji and Dr. Tony Ete, reported that the surgery was a resounding success, and the patient is currently on the path to full recovery.

The surgical feat, the first of its kind in Arunachal Pradesh, underscores the state’s growing expertise and advanced medical facilities.
