Rubber rolling machine distributed to 90 families

Mizoram, 3rd December: Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation Department on Wednesday distributed Rubber Rolling machines and related ancillaries to 90 rubber cultivators of Aizawl District in Mizoram.

Land Resources, Soil & Water Conservation Minister Pu R. Lalzirliana graced the occasion as the chief guest and flagged off the vehicles transporting these machines to the beneficiaries from the Department premises near Tennis Court in Aizawl.

Pu R. Lalzirliana mentioned even though Rubber Rolling was started in Mizoram since a long time, the absence of high yielding varieties of rubber did not make it a good livelihood prospect.

But with the introduction of better varieties, scientific management and training by the Department rubber cultivation has changed and today there are a substantial number of rubber growers in the state, he added.

He also pointed that the Department had received a loan of Rs. 6.80 crores for NABARD for rubber development in the state and with this loan, rubber cultivation in the state stands to benefit. He highlighted activities to be undertaken under the aegis of the Rubber and Allied Crops Development Boards, one of the 17 Boards under the state flagship programme – SEDP.
