Gangtok, March 06: The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has urged Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya to impose President’s rule in the state, citing deteriorating law and order under the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) rule.

In response to the attack on its leader KN Rai, the SDF, led by Party President Pawan Chamling, submitted a memorandum expressing concern over the alleged attempt to murder KN Rai.

The memorandum highlighted the failure of the SKM government to address the issue effectively.

The SDF accused the SKM government of losing moral authority and called for the resignation of the Chief Minister.

They emphasized the government’s inability to apprehend any culprits over the past five years.

Demanding intervention from the Governor, the SDF urged the use of special powers under 371 F (g) of the Constitution to dismiss the current government and initiate the President’s Rule.

They emphasized the need for free, fair, and peaceful elections, aligning with the Election Commission of India’s objectives.
