Gangtok, Feb 11: The Sikkim government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased killed in the Ranipur accident, where a truck crashed into a fairground during a tambola program.

District magistrate Tushar Nikhare provided details of the incident, stating that the accident occurred around 7:30 pm on February 10 during the tambola program.

Three individuals lost their lives, and approximately 20 others sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Expressing condolences, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang assured support for the affected individuals.

He expressed deep sadness over the tragedy and highlighted the ongoing efforts of government officials and district administration in rescue operations.

CM Tamang emphasized the government’s commitment to covering all treatment expenses for the injured individuals admitted to Manipal Hospital.

He assured prompt assistance and pledged full support during this challenging time. Additionally, he extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for their peace.

Furthermore, the Sikkim government announced its decision to bear the costs of treatment for the injured. An investigation into the incident has also been initiated to determine the cause.
