Guwahati, May 08: Sivasagar MLA and People’s Party President, Akhil Gogoi, recently embarked on a visit to the Bhuiyapara and Banhbari ranges of the Manas National Park.
After spending a night at the Musa Lodge within the park, Gogoi returned home today, shedding light on his wildlife expedition and upcoming political prognostications.
Addressing the media post his Manas National Park sojourn, Gogoi delved into the political dynamics of Assam.
He boldly forecasted a significant transformation in the state’s political landscape, particularly predicting the departure of Badruddin Ajmal, the MP and leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), from Assam politics.

“Starting from this year, Badruddin Ajmal will step down as MP, and by 2026, the AIUDF will withdraw from Assam politics,” confidently declared Gogoi. He further hinted at Ajmal’s potential exit leading to erratic statements from the AIUDF leader, suggesting an anticipated defeat in the upcoming Dhubri elections.
Shifting focus to broader electoral projections, Gogoi analyzed the declining influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) in the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency. He attributed this trend to the diminishing ‘Modi wave’ across Assam, indicating a possible political realignment away from the BJP.
Discussing the competitive scenario in the Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency, Gogoi acknowledged the complexities arising from the presence of three prominent candidates.
Nevertheless, he expressed optimism regarding the electorate’s response, highlighting a growing disillusionment with the BJP and foreseeing a reduced seat count for the party.
“While facing challenges with three candidates in the Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency, this election witnesses the fading of the Modi wave across Assam. Consequently, people will bid farewell to Modi, and the BJP is expected to secure only two hundred seats this time,” asserted Gogoi, encapsulating his assessment of the prevailing political climate.
Gogoi’s observations arrive at a pivotal juncture as Assam braces for significant electoral battles.
His insights offer valuable perspectives on the evolving political milieu, hinting at potential shifts in power dynamics and voter sentiment across the state.
As Gogoi wraps up his excursion to Manas National Park, his political commentary sets the stage for heightened anticipation and speculation surrounding the impending elections in Assam.
