Tawang, Nov 09: Tawang’s stunning landscapes have set the stage once again for Monduro 4.0, the world’s highest enduro mountain biking race.

Organized by the Tawang Cycling Association under Dr. Dukhum Magu and backed by the Department of Tourism, Arunachal Pradesh, this year’s event is part of the Asia Enduro Series (AES) and has attracted bikers from eight countries along with top riders from across India.

The event kicked off at Tawang Walkthrough Market, with Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering and Tawang Brigade Commander Brigadier VS Rajput flagging off the race.

This challenging course begins at a breathtaking 14,400 feet altitude and descends to 8,000 feet, establishing Monduro 4.0 as one of the world’s most demanding high-altitude biking events.

Among the participants are renowned enduro bikers, including 2024 UCI World Champion Alex Rudeau from France and Nepal’s downhill champion Neerav Shrestha.

Speaking at the launch, MLA Tsering welcomed the racers and thanked Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the Tawang Cycling Association for boosting Tawang’s global adventure tourism profile.

The race route includes historical tracks once used by locals for trade with Tibet, blending cultural heritage with adventure.

Brigadier VS Rajput and association member Dawa extended words of encouragement, highlighting the event’s role in promoting sportsmanship.

To help participants adapt to the high altitude, practice sessions are scheduled for November 10 and 11, with the final race on November 13 and 14.

Monduro 4.0 is expected to once again spotlight Tawang’s unique natural beauty and rich culture, drawing global attention to this remarkable region of Arunachal Pradesh.
