Teenage girl strangles younger brother for objecting to her chat with friend

UP, April 15: A 15-year-old girl strangled her 9-year-old brother with an earphone cable after he objected to her chatting on her phone with a male friend in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli district.

The accused was sent to a juvenile home.

According to the police, the girl used to spend several hours on her phone when the parents were not around. The younger brother had complained to their parents about it a few days ago and the parents had reprimanded the girl.

When the parents were not at home, the girl started to talk to the friend on her phone.

Rae Bareli Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said, “The boy spotted his sister talking over the phone and objected to it. It led to a scuffle between the two, following which he attacked the girl, but she strangled him using an earphone wire.”

Rae Bareli’s Dalmau police station received information about a missing nine-year-old, following which they instantly launched a hunt to look for the child.

Shlok Kumar said, “Next day, a foul smell started emanating and the parents of the girl opened the storeroom of the house to find the body of their son. After this, the victim’s father lodged a named FIR against a neighbour who was also detained by the police.”

On further investigation, it was found that the neighbour in question was nowhere near the spot of crime during the time in which the incident took place.

The police then proceeded to question all the members present on the day, including family members.

The SP said, “Family members were examined as abrasions, cuts, and wounds on the body of the boy proved that scuffle would have taken place between the deceased and that attacker.”

A medical and forensic team collected samples for examination from all those present on that day. As many as 25 samples were collected. On further examination, it was revealed that only the elder sister had bruises on her stomach, neck, and hands.

The girl was questioned by the police in the presence of her parents and the child welfare officer. She confessed to her crime and said she didn’t want to kill her brother.

She also said she didn’t want to kill her brother, but he used to complain to her parents against her when she would talk to a male friend,” said Shlok Kumar.
