Tipra Motha bandh

Agartala, Sept 30: Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has called for a peaceful 12-hour bandh (strike) in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on September 30. He has urged party leaders and members to participate peacefully and make the bandh a success.

This bandh is organized by the regional Tipra Motha party and aims to demand an early constitutional solution to the issues faced by the indigenous people of Tripura.

Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has taken to social media to appeal to party MLAs, executive members, and MDCs (Members of District Council) of TTAADC to actively participate in the bandh. He emphasizes the need to send a strong message to Delhi and urges all Tiprasa warriors to be on the ground to stay connected with the people.

Debbarma asserts that for the past 76 years, the indigenous natives of Tripura have faced injustice and have been deprived of their rights concerning land, politics, and the economy. He states that they have waited patiently for a long time, and now they demand that their rights be recognized.

Debbarma makes it clear that the bandh should not be seen as a political move but as a united effort to raise their voices for their rights. The purpose is to send a strong message to Delhi that the Tiprasa people are united in their demands.

The Tipra Motha chief criticizes the CPI(M) for opposing the bandh called by his regional party. He questions why the CPI(M) did not do more for the Tiprasa people during its 25-year rule in the state. He highlights that despite projecting Manik Sarkar (ex-CM) as the poorest chief minister, they failed to address the underdevelopment of the Tiprasa people in the northeast.

Security forces have been put on alert in the tribal council areas. District Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been directed to increase security measures to maintain peace and order during the bandh. Additional companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and TSR (Tripura State Rifles) jawans have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. Authorities are also in discussions with Tipra Motha leaders to ensure peace during the bandh.

Overall, the bandh organized by Tipra Motha represents a significant movement to demand the recognition of the rights of indigenous people in Tripura who have faced injustices for many years. It underscores their unity and determination to bring about change through peaceful means.
