Agartala, March 01: Tipra Motha, the principal opposition political party in Tripura, is poised to sign an agreement with the Central and Tripura Governments on March 2, addressing their longstanding demand for a constitutional solution.

While the specifics of the agreement are yet to be confirmed, Tipra Motha leaders have indicated that a signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Delhi tomorrow.

In anticipation of the event, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, along with IPFT Minister Shukla Charan Noatia and Tipra Motha leaders including President Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma, and Chairman of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Jagadish Debbarma, departed for Delhi this evening.

Speaking to reporters, IPFT Minister Shukla Charan Noatia revealed, “We received a call from Delhi, the central government, and so we are leaving led by the Chief Minister.”

Royal Scion and former Chairman of Tipra Motha, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, who initiated an indefinite hunger strike on February 28 demanding a constitutional solution for the indigenous people of Tripura, also hastened to Delhi on the first day of the strike.

On Friday, Pradyot cryptically wrote on Facebook, “Tomorrow.”

Tipra Motha’s demand for a constitutional solution reflects the ongoing efforts to address the grievances of indigenous communities in Tripura.
