Guwahati, Sept 28: The Guwahati Traffic Department has announced a series of traffic restrictions for the warm-up matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 scheduled to be held at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati, starting from Friday.

These restrictions will be in effect on September 29, 30, as well as on October 2 and 3. The primary objectives of these restrictions are to ensure the safety of vulnerable road users, including children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals, and to facilitate unimpeded access for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders.

The specific traffic restrictions that have been imposed are as follows:

  1. Commercial Goods Vehicles (Four Wheels and Above): These vehicles will face restrictions on NH-27 and NH-17 within Guwahati City from 9 AM to 12 AM on September 29 and 30, as well as on October 2 and 3.
  2. Commercial Goods Vehicles (Three Wheels and Above): Restrictions will be in place on AK Mad Road and AK Dev Road from 9 AM to 12 Midnight on September 29 and 30, and on October 2 and 3.
  3. One-Way Traffic on AK Mad Road: Starting from 1 AM on September 29 and 30, and on October 2 and 3, AK Mad Road (Lakhra Road) will become one way. Vehicles will be allowed to travel from the Cycle Factory side towards Lakhra Chariali. No entry will be permitted from Lakhra Chariali, except for vehicles with car passes attending the match, school buses, and emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire tenders.
  4. One-Way Traffic on Barsapara Road: On September 29 and 30, and on October 2 and 3, Barsapara Road from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali will become one way for vehicles with car passes. Vehicles without car passes will not be allowed to enter from Barsapara Tiniali, except for local residents. No vehicles will be permitted to enter from Dhirenpara Tiniali towards Barsapara Stadium.

To facilitate the smooth entry of spectators, there will be six designated entry gates:

  • Gate No- 1B: Reserved for invitees with car passes, with access via AK Azad Road towards Barsapara Tiniali to Rampart Sodium.
  • Gate No 2: Located on Barsapara Road, with entrance via Barsapara – AK Azad Road.
  • Gate No 3: Accessible from RG Baruah Path, with an entrance via Godrey Galt/Rolling Mill – AK Azad Road.
  • Gate No 4: Situated on Rolling Mill Road, accessible via Rolling Mill – AK Azad Road.
  • Gate No 5: Located on Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path, with entrance via Raghunath Road – AK Deb Road.
  • Gate No 6: Also on Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path, with entrance via Raghunath Road – AK Deb Road.
  • Gate No 7: Situated on Barsapara Road, with access via Barsapara Tiniali – AK Azad Road.

To manage parking arrangements for visitors, the following designated areas have been specified:

For vehicles arriving via AK Deb Road, suggested parking areas include:

  • Champabati Field
  • Ganeshpara Field
  • Datalpara Field
  • Champabati Field to Garchuk Tiniali (Single-line roadside parking on one side)
  • Ambari Rangpathar Field
  • PWD Field, Fatasil Ambari

For vehicles arriving via AK Azad Road, parking is recommended in the following areas:

  • Lutuma Field
  • Cycle Factory Field near Vishal Marriage Hall
  • Lalganesh to Saukuchi bridge (Single line roadside parking on one side)
  • Rolling Mill parking field
  • Kalimandir Spring Club Field, Colony Bazar

These traffic restrictions and parking arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and safe experience for attendees of the ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up matches.
