Imphal, Jan 19: Manipur witnessed a fresh bout of violence resulting in the loss of five innocent lives. The police reported that unknown miscreants were responsible for the killings in two separate incidents, adding to the escalating tensions in the region.
The first incident occurred in Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou, Bishnupur district, where four civilians fell victim to armed assailants.
The victims were identified as Oinam Bamonjao Singh (61), his son Oinam Manitomba Singh (32), Thiyam Somendro Singh (55), and Ningthoujam Nabadwip Singh (40). The police are actively engaged in efforts to apprehend the perpetrators behind this senseless act of violence.
Simultaneously, in Kangchup Chingkhong, Kangpokpi district, another civilian named Takhellambam Manoranjan met a tragic fate. A resident of Thiyam Konjin, Manoranjan’s life was cut short, with his body discovered near Bunker Hills.
The police suspect that he became a victim of crossfire during an exchange between armed miscreants on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
The events unfolded against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the region. On the night preceding these unfortunate incidents, three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel faced a perilous situation when a mob opened fire at them in Khangabok, Thoubal District.

The BSF personnel sustained gunshot injuries, highlighting the volatile atmosphere prevailing in Manipur.
