Guwahati, Jan 03: A tragic accident unfolded in Assam’s Dergaon when a bus carrying 45 passengers to Tinsukia’s Tilinga Mandir collided with a coal-laden truck coming from Margherita. The incident occurred around 5 am on Wednesday, resulting in the loss of 14 lives and leaving 27 others critically injured.

The ill-fated bus, part of a picnic party that commenced their journey at 3 am, collided head-on with the truck as they approached their destination.

The impact of the collision led to severe injuries among the passengers, prompting a swift response from the police.

Authorities rushed to the accident site, rescuing the injured and transporting them to Jorhat Medical College. Reports indicate that several of the injured individuals are in critical condition, emphasizing the gravity of the incident.
