The conflict going on till now since the past 11 months.

The state has witnessed significant turmoil stemming from issues such as illegal immigration, anti-Christian sentiment, and cross-border narco-terrorism.

This unrest has resulted in mass displacement, with over 60,000 people and houses being affected. More than 5,000 houses have been burnt, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Additionally, around 500 religious structures, including temples, churches, and mosques, have been damaged or destroyed amid the chaos.

Malem Thongam, a prominent transgender activist, has taken the lead in addressing these pressing concerns.

Despite facing obstacles, Malem and his group persisted in their efforts to advocate for change.

They initially planned to stage their hunger strike at the gates of those in power but were compelled to submit their demands to several MLAs and ministers instead.

This adjustment was necessary due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) under Article 324.

The MCC ensures the conduct of free and fair elections in both Parliament and the state legislature.

Despite the limitations imposed by the MCC, Malem and his supporters remain resolute in their pursuit of justice and peace.

Their dedication to addressing the root causes of the unrest underscores their commitment to the well-being of the affected communities.

By raising awareness and advocating for change, Malem Thongam and his allies strive to bring about meaningful solutions to the challenges facing the state. Their actions serve as a beacon of hope for those affected by the crisis, offering a glimmer of optimism for a brighter future.

Malem expresses her extreme dissatisfaction over this attempt of the BJP to silence people’s voices and restrict them from holding their protests in front of the official and official residential gates.
