Guwahati, March 30: Transgender activist Swati Bidhan Baruah, implicated in the suicide case of her partner Mansur Alam, secured bail on March 29 after spending a month behind bars.

Baruah’s arrest on March 1 was related to Mansur’s demise, with allegations suggesting her culpability in causing his suicide.

However, the district magistrate’s court granted her bail due to the investigating officer’s failure to present the case diary.

The bail conditions required Baruah to furnish Rs 30,000 along with a surety.

The troubled relationship between Mansur and Baruah was marked by accusations of mental harassment, with Baruah purportedly pressuring Mansur into marriage and subsequently accusing him of rape.

Conversely, Baruah later levied rape charges against Mansur, contesting his bail plea.

According to Mansur’s family, he had been employed at Baruah’s residence for over a year, during which an illicit relationship allegedly developed between them.
