Kolkata, Feb 12: On Monday, the convoy of West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose en route to the tension-stricken Sandeshkhali was halted by Trinamool Congress supporters.
The protesters expressed their grievances regarding the central government’s failure to release funds, a longstanding issue fueling tensions between the Trinamool Congress-led state government and the BJP-led Centre.
Visuals captured the scene of supporters surrounding the convoy, brandishing posters and causing a stir around the vehicles. Meanwhile, police restricted media access to Sandeshkhali, further intensifying the situation.
CV Bose, upon his arrival, expressed his intent to engage with residents to address their concerns. He had curtailed his trip to Kerala on Sunday to prioritize the visit to Sandeshkhali amidst escalating tensions.

Furthermore, Bengal BJP MLAs are scheduled to visit the village, where Section 144 has been enforced to prohibit large gatherings.
The region witnessed heightened tensions following recent protests by local women, demanding the arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan, a Trinamool Congress leader, and his associates who remain at large.
Amidst the unfolding situation, Left parties have called for a strike in Sandeshkhali today, adding to the prevailing unrest in the region.
