Bengal Modi

1. TMC questions whether PM Modi will address the concerns of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) beneficiaries during his visit to West Bengal.
2. The party emphasizes the need for the Prime Minister to acknowledge the plight of MGNREGA beneficiaries, despite the government’s cessation of funds.
3. TMC assures that the Mamata Banerjee-led government will settle the dues of all deprived MGNREGA beneficiaries in the state, underscoring their commitment to social welfare.

Kolkata, Mar 01: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) presents two key queries.

The TMC questions whether PM Modi will lend an ear to the grievances of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) beneficiaries.

Despite alleged funding restrictions imposed by the central government, the Mamata Banerjee-led administration pledges to clear dues for all affected individuals in the state.

Action Against Suvendu Adhikari

Furthermore, the TMC seeks clarity on whether PM Modi will take action against Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, who is implicated in various CBI cases. The party challenges PM Modi to either suspend Adhikari from the BJP or share a platform with him, thereby confirming the government’s stance on corruption.

State minister Shashi Panja raises these questions, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency. Trinamool MP Shantanu Sen echoes this sentiment, urging the Prime Minister to address these pressing issues.

PM Modi’s West Bengal Visit

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to West Bengal includes participation in a public event at Arambagh in Hooghly district. The agenda includes inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for developmental projects valued at over Rs 7,200 crore.

The West Bengal government accuses the Centre of withholding funds for the MGNREGA scheme, resulting in delayed payments to beneficiaries.

Despite these challenges, the state government initiates direct transfers to the bank accounts of 21 lakh individuals, highlighting its commitment to welfare programs.

The TMC continues to criticize the BJP, particularly regarding the alleged inaction of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Suvendu Adhikari.

Adhikari faces allegations in multiple cases, including the Narada case and the West Bengal teachers’ recruitment scam, prompting scrutiny from the TMC.
