Agartala, May 05: According to Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Avinas Rai, 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including three children, were detained from Mas Kumbhir Para by the Gandacherra Police Station based on secret information.

They were found with tickets, COVID-19 vaccination documents from the Bangladesh government, and Bangladeshi currency.

The detainees revealed they entered India from Bangladesh through the Hakimpur Indo-Bangla border in West Bengal three years ago, later moving to Bangalore for work.

They were en route to Bangladesh via Tripura after returning from Bangalore.

The detainees were identified as Md. Mamun Sardhar (29), Ruma Begam (25), Afsana Akter (22), MD Rajib Holder (20), Md. Maharaj Sheikh (25), Md. Chan Miah Akon (36), Md. Foysal Akon (18), Md. Ferdous Sheikh (30), and three children.

In another operation, Tripura Police and Government Railway Police apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals, including two children, from Ambassa Railway Station.

They were heading from Barishal District of Bangladesh to West Bengal in search of work.

Officer-in-Charge Gurupada Debnath of Ambassa Police station stated that prior information led to their detention.
