Agartala, March 02: The counting of votes for 60 Assembly constituencies, which went to polls, in Tripura will take place and results will announce on Thursday. The Election Commission will declare the Tripura Election Result 2023 by the end of the day on March 2. The postal ballots will be counted first and the votes polled in the EVMs will then be counted.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address BJP workers and supporters later today as the party appeared set to retain power in Tripura on its own and with its senior ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party in Nagaland. Official sources said PM Modi is likely to be felicitated for the victory at a meeting of senior party leaders at its headquarters.
  • Union minister Pratima Bhowmik won from the Dhanpur constituency in the Sepahijala district.

  • The BJP has crossed the halfway mark in the 60-member Tripura assembly, winning 12 seats and leading in 21, according to data from the Election Commission. The opposition CPI(M) won one seat, and was ahead in 10, while its partner Congress was leading in two seats and won one. The Tipra Motha was leading in six constituencies and has already won six seats, while BJP’s ally IPFT won one seat.
  • Celebrations began in Tripura as BJP candidates surged ahead of the opposition Left-Congress and Tipra Motha, leading in more than half the seats of the 60-member assembly.

1. BJP leading in 31 sets. 31 is the majority mark

  • Chief Minister Manik Saha was leading in the Town Bardowali seat over his nearest Congress rival Ashish Kumar Saha by 344 votes. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman was ahead of BJP’s Papia Dutta by 1,670 votes in Agartala seat.
  • Tipra Motha’s first assembly debut looks impressive as per the early trends as the party is leading in Charilam ( ST) seat. Deputy CM is in the second position. Tipra Motha is also leading in Teliamura seat.

  • Tripura CM Manik Saha took blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari before the announcement of assembly poll results.

  • A day after Tripura went to the polls, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Friday put the latest figure of poll turnout at 89.95 percent, including 2.19 percent votes polled through postal ballots.
  • Preparations have been completed for the counting of votes in Tripura on Thursday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinakarrao said. Elections to the 60 Assembly constituencies in the state were held on February 16, with around 87.76 percent of voters exercising their franchise.
