Tripura gets first female union minister Pratima Bhowmik

Tripura, July 7: Pratima Bhowmik, 52 is the first female Union Minister to be inducted into the new Modi Ministry.

In the big Modi Ministry reshuffle that took place on Wednesday, Pratima Bhowmik is currently a Lok Sabha MP from Tripura West.

All set to embark on a new journey as Union Minister of State, Pratima took oath on Wednesday in Hindi.

A resident of Agartala, Tripura, Pratima happens to belong from a very humble background and practices farming.

Popularly known as Didi, Pratima is a prominent woman face from the BJP in the state.

She happens to be one of the three ministers besides Sarbananda Sonowal and Kiren Rijuju to be inducted in the Modi rejig from the North East.
