Ulfa Assam

Assam, Dec 3: Ulfa (I) has asked the Assam government to send political envoys and not military officials if it decides to discuss with the approval of Parliament its core demand of “restoration of Assam’s sovereignty“.

In its bi-monthly mouthpiece, the outfit mentioned, “Otherwise, we know that the dialogue would be nothing else but a death trap.”

ULFA (I) stated that peace initiatives with other groups have shown how the Assam government has forced these groups to be bound by “pre-conditions“, which eventually turn out to be a trap in the name of offering a peaceful solution.

It also added that the government has tried to tame Ulfa with as many as 11 military operations since the first one – Operation Bajrang – in 1990.
