Rajnath Singh

Tawang, Oct 22: The Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, is set to embark on a visit to the forward areas along the Line of Actual Control, where he will engage with troops responsible for guarding Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic frontiers.

Sources indicate that Rajnath Singh’s visit will include a stop at the Tawang War Memorial in Arunachal Pradesh. There, he will participate in the traditional Shastra Puja ceremony alongside the dedicated troops of the Indian Army. This visit is scheduled for October 24, 2023, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami.

The Defence Minister’s visit carries heightened significance due to the context of India’s substantial infrastructure developments in the eastern sector and the recurrent objections raised by China regarding India’s developmental initiatives within its territory.

Notably, the nearing completion of the Sela (Dzela) tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, a project of vital strategic importance to the region, adds an additional layer of importance to Rajnath Singh’s visit.

It’s worth mentioning that this marks Rajnath Singh’s first Dussehra spent with troops in Arunachal Pradesh. While both Prime Minister Modi and Singh have previously celebrated such festive occasions with soldiers in various locations, the majority of these visits have taken place along India’s western and northern borders.
