Nagaland medical college

Kohima, Oct 14: Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya is set to embark on a significant one-day visit to the northeastern state of Nagaland, where he will preside over the inauguration of the state’s very first medical college.

This landmark event is marked by the official unveiling of the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) in Phreibagei, Kohima, which is scheduled for October 14. Additionally, a monolith will be ceremoniously inaugurated by Dr. Mandaviya to commemorate this momentous occasion.

The establishment of NIMSR represents a significant milestone in the field of medical education and healthcare in Nagaland. The National Medical Commission has granted permission to the college to admit 100 students for the academic session of 2023-2024. This allocation consists of 85 seats designated for residents of Nagaland and 15 seats reserved under the All India Quota. The medical college is colloquially referred to as Kohima Medical College.

This achievement is the result of dedicated efforts to enhance medical education and healthcare services within the state of Nagaland. The NIMSR has received official recognition from the National Medical Commission, which granted the institution the Letter of Permission (LoP) on April 25, 2023, specifying the allocation of 100 MBBS seats.
