New Delhi, Dec 17: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Congress’ new crowdfunding campaign, ‘Donate for Desh,’ labeling it a “Donate for Dynasty scheme.”

Rijiju accused the party of introducing the campaign to cover the expenses of the Gandhi family, following the recovery of over ₹350 crore in an Income Tax raid on one of its MPs’ premises.

Taking to X, Rijiju stated, “With the money heist of their MP being caught, Congress comes up with a new ‘Donate for Dynasty’ scheme to sustain the lifestyle costs of a dynasty never used to live without excessive luxury, other people’s wealth, and uncontrolled power.”

The Congress campaign aims to empower the party to create an India rich in equal resource distribution and opportunities, drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s historic Tilak Swaraj Fund in 1920-21. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced the launch of the online crowdfunding initiative.

However, the party faces criticism following the discovery of ₹353 crore in cash from liquor firms associated with Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu in various towns of Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

Sahu clarified that the money did not belong to the party but was the proceeds of liquor sales. He emphasized that the seized funds were not meant for Congress or other political parties.
