Urfi Javed

Mumbai, Oct 31: Actress Urfi Javed, who gained fame through her appearance on Bigg Boss OTT, is no stranger to criticism for her bold fashion choices and has been the subject of hate speech and trolling. Her latest Halloween costume, in which she dressed up as the iconic Chota Pandit character from the movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa, has once again drawn criticism and even death threats.

Urfi took to Twitter to share screenshots of hateful messages, some of which included serious death threats. A furious troll accused the Meri Durga actress of disrespecting the Hindu religion and hurting people’s sentiments, going so far as to threaten her life.

Sharing the emails, along with a picture of herself and a still of Rajpal Yadav from the horror comedy, Urfi expressed her shock and dismay at the situation, stating, “I’m just shocked and appalled by this country, man. I’m getting death threats for recreating a character from a movie, whereas that character didn’t receive any backlash.”

These threats came just a day after Urfi Javed posted a video of herself in a Bhool Bhulaiyaa-inspired look. Wearing a red bodysuit with an orange dhoti, she posed with agarbattis and a garland. In her post, she clarified, “I hope everyone knows Chhota Pandit is a character from Bhool Bhulaiyaa. I got ready for the Halloween party with a lot of hard work but I couldn’t go, so I thought I should at least upload a video!”
