Watch, March 4: Video of a bride and groom dancing during their phera ceremony has generated a discussion on social media with several users voicing their respective opinions over the clip. Vedant Birla, Chairman and MD of Birla Precision Technologies shared the 27-second clip on Twitter and slammed the couple for “disrespecting traditions.”
In the video, the bride and groom, dressed in heavy wedding attire danced to the song Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai during their Phera ceremony. The saat phere is one of the most important features of a Hindu Wedding, wherein the couple takes seven rounds around a sacred fire as a priest recites the Vedic mantras.
“Yeh shaadi hai ya sanskaaron ki aahuti? Yeh mat bhuliye ki aap duniya mein pujniya hain toh keval aapki sanskriti aur sanskaaron ki wajah se (Is this a wedding or a sacrifice of our traditions? Do not forget that if you are valued in the world, it is because of your traditions and culture),” Vedant Birla said in Hindi.
