Imphal, Feb 02: Women of the Meitei community in Manipur have raised their concerns about the prolonged crisis in the state, reaching nearly 10 months, and have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and bring an end to the conflict.

During a press conference at the Manipur Press Club, Huirem Binodini, the co-convenor of the Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee, expressed deep distress over the continuous crisis, highlighting that despite almost 10 months passing, the conflict persists, resulting in loss of lives.

Binodini emphasized the unfortunate aspect of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the leader of the nation, not intervening in the crisis.

She stressed the importance of the PM’s intervention in bringing an amicable resolution to the ongoing conflict, speaking on behalf of Indian citizens who want an end to the crisis.

Pointing out the human toll of the conflict, Binodini mentioned the increasing number of widows and questioned how many more lives would be lost and how many more women would become widows if the violence continued.

Binodini drew attention to the achievements of the people of Manipur in sports, bringing pride to the country.

However, she expressed disappointment that Prime Minister Modi has not taken the crisis seriously, given its prolonged duration.

In a plea to the Prime Minister, Binodini urged Narendra Modi to actively intervene in resolving the 10-month-old crisis in Manipur.
