Twitter audio

New Delhi, Oct 26: X, formerly known as Twitter, is rolling out audio and video calling features, a development that Elon Musk recently teased on the platform.

In August of this year, company CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed that the social media platform would soon provide native calling capabilities. This new feature enables users to make video or audio calls directly through the app without the need to exchange phone numbers.

Linda Yaccarino explained that these functionalities will be integrated into the ‘Direct Message’ (DM) menu and that certain restrictions will be in place to prevent spam calls.

To enable audio and video calls on X, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the app settings.
  2. Tap on ‘Privacy and Safety.’
  3. Click on ‘Direct Messages.’
  4. If the feature is available on your account, you will see a toggle named ‘Enable audio and video calling.’ Simply turn it on to activate this feature.

X offers several customization options, allowing users to decide who can make calls to them. You can choose to receive calls from ‘People in your address book,’ ‘People you follow,’ or ‘Verified users.’

Similar to WhatsApp and Instagram, the call button will appear in the top right corner of your conversation screen when you’re engaged in a chat with another user on the platform.

Ever since Elon Musk took over X (formerly Twitter), the billionaire has been working to transform the social media platform into an all-encompassing app. This transition aims to provide features that go beyond micro-blogging.
