Lucknow, Feb 25: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, made a decisive move by canceling the police constable recruitment examination following reports of cheating.

Adityanath emphasized that injustice towards the youth is a national sin and declared a policy of zero tolerance towards those jeopardizing their future.

Expressing determination to deal strictly with such elements, Adityanath highlighted the importance of setting an example through decisive action.

The cancellation came amid mounting protests from aspirants who alleged widespread cheating during the examination held on February 17 and 18.

The examination, aimed at filling 60,244 constable posts, witnessed the participation of around 48 lakh candidates.

However, instances of cheating led to the arrest of 244 individuals for fraudulent activities.

In response to these irregularities, the government decided to annul the recruitment process and instructed for a re-examination within six months.

Adityanath reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding the sanctity of examinations, emphasizing that there would be no compromise in this regard.

He assured that strict action would be taken against those found guilty of disrupting the recruitment process.

Notably, this recruitment drive marked Uttar Pradesh’s largest initiative for such positions since 2019, attracting over 6,00,000 applicants from various states across India.
