Guwahati, April 06: The anticipated visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Assam on April 7 and 8 has been called off, as per sources familiar with the matter.

Shah had plans to conduct election rallies in Hojai, Lakhimpur, and Gohpur as the Lok Sabha elections approached, intensifying political activities nationwide.

Meanwhile, Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah disclosed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Assam on April 17.

Modi is slated to address a rally in Nalbari in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to Minister Mallabaruah’s announcement.
