Imphal, Feb 28: The past 24 hours witnessed escalating tensions in Imphal East of Manipur, with reports of sporadic firing incidents and protester gatherings.
Over 200 armed individuals raided the residence of Additional SP, IW, Moirangthem Amit, abducting him and his escort. Fortunately, they were later rescued and hospitalized.
Security forces swiftly conducted search operations in vulnerable areas, yielding significant recoveries including firearms, mortar shells, grenades, and communication devices in Imphal East district.
The armed miscreants, numbering around 200, targeted the residence of Additional SP Moirangthem Amit Singh, vandalizing property.

Additional security forces intervened, resulting in injuries to two individuals who were subsequently hospitalized.
Amidst the chaos, the Additional SP and one escort were abducted but later rescued in Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai area and hospitalized.
Investigations into the incident are underway with a case registered.
Efforts to maintain essential supply lines were ensured, with 341 and 335 vehicles moving along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively, under strict security measures.
Additionally, 140 checkpoints were set up across Manipur, resulting in the detention of 212 individuals for various violations.
