Shramik Kalyan Yojana

Itanagar, Sept 18: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has taken a significant step towards the welfare of the state’s labor force by unveiling the ‘Mukhya Mantri Shramik Kalyan Yojana.’ This new scheme, which was announced during an event in Itanagar, introduces several key revisions and incentives for workers registered with the Arunachal Pradesh Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

The ‘Mukhya Mantri Shramik Kalyan Yojana’ aims to uplift the lives of laborers and their families through enhanced benefits and support:

1. Maternity Benefit: Under this scheme, families of workers will see a substantial increase in maternity benefits, with the amount rising from ₹1,000 to ₹6,000. This boost is particularly significant as it provides greater financial security to mothers during pregnancy and childbirth.

2. Natural Death Compensation: The compensation for the natural death of a worker has been raised from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakhs. This increase acknowledges the need to provide adequate support to the families of deceased workers, helping them cope with the financial implications of such a loss.

3. Accidental Death Compensation: In the unfortunate event of an accidental death, workers’ families will receive higher compensation, with the amount climbing from ₹1 lakh to ₹4 lakhs. This substantial increase ensures that families are better prepared to deal with the sudden loss of their loved ones.

4. Sports Incentives: The ‘Mukhya Mantri Shramik Kalyan Yojana’ also places emphasis on promoting sports among the children of workers. To encourage their participation and excellence in sports, the scheme offers attractive cash incentives. Children who secure Gold in any state-level tournament or competition will receive ₹15,000, Silver medalists ₹10,000, and Bronze medalists ₹8,000. For those achieving excellence at the national level, the rewards are even more substantial, with Gold medalists receiving ₹30,000, Silver medalists ₹20,000, and Bronze medalists ₹15,000.
