Guwahati, April 07: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Congress party of tailoring its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to cater to voters in Pakistan.
According to Sarma, the manifesto allegedly supports the reintroduction of controversial laws such as polygamy and triple talaq, insinuating that the Congress party is gearing up to contest elections in Pakistan.
This accusation from Sarma comes amidst heightened political tensions during the election campaign.
Earlier, on April 6, he launched a scathing verbal attack on the Gandhi family, alleging corruption and misuse of power.
In a social media post, Sarma listed various alleged wrongdoings by the Gandhi family, including holidaying in a navy vessel and boycotting significant religious sites.

In his post on ‘X’, Sarma highlighted six instances that he claimed reflected negatively on the Gandhi family.
These include holidaying in a navy vessel, visiting Babur’s tomb, boycotting Somnath and Ayodhya, using Sengol as a walking stick, sacking a Chief Minister from the airport, and humiliating an ex-Prime Minister after death.
Sarma’s allegations against the Congress party and the Gandhi family have stirred controversy and added intensity to the ongoing election campaign in Assam.
His remarks underscore the fierce competition and political rhetoric characterizing the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the state.
