Aizawl, April 06: Amid preparations for the upcoming elections in Mizoram, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Madhup Vyas highlighted key aspects in a press briefing at the MINECO office in Aizawl.

  • The electoral roll, crucial for democratic elections, reflects a healthy electoral population ratio of 60.64%.
  • Mizoram boasts around 4980 service voters and 3243 PwD Voters, with provisions for home voting for senior citizens and PwD individuals.
  • Aizawl district leads with 12 assembly constituencies, followed by Lunglei with 6, and other districts with varying numbers.
  • Rigorous efforts have been made to cleanse the electoral roll, addressing demographic and photographic discrepancies.

  • Mizoram is equipped with 1276 polling stations, ensuring essential facilities and special provisions for women, PwD, and youth staff.
  • All districts ensure 100% assured minimum facilities, with temporary electricity connections arranged in certain areas.
  • A sufficient number of EVMs and VVPATS are available, with over 6400 trained polling personnel and necessary observer arrangements.
  • Stringent measures have been taken to maintain law and order, with over 280 individuals bound down and firearm deposits underway.
